Matt is an actor, teacher, and early career researcher based in Newcastle, Australia. He has a PhD in Education from the University of Newcastle, where he currently works as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre. Matt has taught at school and university levels, as well as at creative arts organisations. As the Education Coordinator at Whale Chorus, Matt has collaborated on theatre-in-education programs for young people and professional learning opportunities for teachers. As an actor, Matt has trained locally at Pasvolsky Actors Studio and Whale Chorus, as well as overseas at Shakespeare and Company. His practice is influenced by physical theatre, movement, ensemble, and play-based methods, and he has performed diverse roles in live productions, including Shakespeare Under the Stars, immersive theatre, devised theatre, and short film. Matt remains dedicated to working collaboratively with local schools and communities, contributing to the development of the creative arts within the region.
